Web3 Security - The Wild West of Crypto

Marc Krisjanous, Associate Director of Audit at SixBlocks Audit, will be discussing Web3 (cryptocurrency and blockchain) and common shortcomings in Web3 security. He also is working on standardising blockchain security through ISO TC307.
Prerequisites: cryptography knowledge will be helpful.
What to bring: a laptop for the lab.

Our flagship event of the year! Compete in our weekend-long Capture The Flag competition featuring challenges across multiple domains including reverse engineering, binary exploitation, web exploitation, forensics, hardware, cryptography, and OSINT. Challenges will be available for beginners through advanced participants, making this perfect for everyone from curious newcomers to experienced security enthusiasts.
Timing note: in-person event starts at 9am, CTF starts at 10am

Introduction to Cryptography for CTF

Intro to Reverse Engineering Lab

Dive into the fascinating world of reverse engineering at our first technical event of the year! Tane Haines will discuss techniques for reversing Linux and Windows executables, followed by a short mini-CTF solving our rev challenges with support from our team.
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge with C or C++ is helpful but not required.
What to bring: A laptop running Linux or Windows. Not all challenges are solvable on Windows.
NZCSC

The NZ Cybersecurity Challenge is a well established CTF competition organised by Waikato University. It's a great competition for beginners, with many easy challenges and several harder ones. We plan to enter the competition with the prefix "VuwCTF" to establish ourselves.
